JOB SUMMARY:

Front line supporting production infrastructure to ensure that services are always available, fast, and any issues are prioritized and resolved quickly.  Responsible for using remote monitoring and resolution tools, analyzes and performs preventative maintenance and incident resolution on the Firm’s IT infrastructure including, but not limited to WAN, LAN, WIFI,  Systems and Lease Lines.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads and participates in proactive service management and incident response to eliminate and mitigate operational issues that impact end-users.
  • Provides a timely and professional response to all communications
  • High sense of urgency for proactively resolving system events before the production environment is impacted.
  • Utilizes tools and demonstrates a high level of proficiency to administer, assess and troubleshoot hardware, Operating Systems, Applications, Databases, LAN/WAN/WIFI platforms
  • Monitors and remediates problems with all Data Center systems via our Network monitoring architecture to detect service degradation and/or failures in power, communications equipment, software or circuits.
  • Ensures data center operations standards are maintained and supported including monitoring of rules, policies, SLA’s and alarms.
  • Highly focused on resolving service impacts/outages with periodic opportunities to assist engineering teams with projects.
  • Serves as the focal point for questions pertaining to daily network opera­tions, incident and event management.
  • Generates network performance reports as prescribed
  • Performs scheduled and emergency system maintenance.
  • Performs all scheduled financial systems’ tasks as required.
  • Maintains user account assignments for network access, baseline Messaging systems, servers administration and financial systems.
  • Manages file locks or password resets for user access to our documentation management systems and our Messaging infrastructure.
  • Develops and improves documentation to enhance and support problem analysis and resolution and/or automation of day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Interacts with Technology vendors.
  • Maintains system in accordance with department standards.
  • Resolves any issues or events resulting in an outage or fault within the network environment in a timely manner.
  • Interacts with the PC Support group and  user community on a regular basis.
  • Integrates and installs Servers, Switches, and Routers in Data Center.
  • Maintains and installs all patching in Data Centers, including power, CAT6A, OM3/OM4 Fiber , Coax,  etc.
  • Participates in meetings or conference bridges about issues or outages.
  • Strategically contributes to the NOC and its processes and systems.
  • Provides off-hours support through participation in an on-call team rotation
  • Provides mandatory Shift coverage as required
  • Escalates and notifies senior management in a timely manner as directed by NOC standards.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER JOB-RELAT­ED COMPETEN­CIES:

  • Ability to resolve incidents without escalation
  • Broad knowledge of Server Hardware, Switches, Routers, Storage, security
  • Proficient use of Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio  with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Exceptional Problem Solving and Troubleshooting Skills
  • Demonstrated Hands-on expertise Maintaining and Supporting Windows Services in a Virtualized Environment (VMWARE), including Microsoft Applications (Exchange, SharePoint, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, File Permissions, and Security
  • Demonstrated Hand-on expertise with Cisco IOS Switching, Routing and Troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of data communications, networking, telecommunications, fiber optic transmission, Internet and related industries
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP and IP address schemes
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of routing protocols BGP, EIGRP, HSRPetc
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of multi-platform computing, MS and Unix OS, SAN, VMware
  • Working knowledge of hardware/software used to identify, isolate, and capture the cause of service impacting problems
  • Familiar with and capable of supporting and troubleshooting Carrier Transport Offerings Private Line (Faste,GB Ethernet, MPLS, Cisco Routers: and Switches
  • Knowledge of Cisco Firewalls and Security
  • Knowledge of system performance monitoring and problem resolution
  • Familiar with NOC tools, ticketing systems, and escalation procedures
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) or Associates Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent

Minimum of three years related experience working in a Network Operations environment

Minimum of five years of Windows, Linux system administration experience

Minimum of five years of Cisco Switch and Routing administration experience

Minimum of five years of Virtualized Enterprise Application Support, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint
